Last Sunday, November 5, the Raleigh Fire Department’s oldest living retiree, Captain Roy Moody (1954-1983) celebrated his 100th birthday at Temple Baptist Church in Raleigh. Squad 7, Ladder 1, and Division Chief 1 were there, and some other active and retired members of RFD, including Asst. Chief of Logistics Danny Poole, retired Captain Steve Bartholomew, retired Captain James Farantatos, and retired Senior Firefighter K. D. Harris. They remember him well.
The fire museum also delivered numerous cards and letters from RFD members past and present. The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association’s 1948 Mack (ex-Dunn, NC) was also brought to the event, by retirees Jimmy and Jan Parker. Here’s a gallery of photos from that special day.
