Our museum recently received a donation from the family of late retired Captain Tim Pearce, that included posed photos of old Rescue 6 and Rescue 7. They were identical 1991 Chevy/Frontline ambulances, and the second set of ambulance body-based rescue trucks for Raleigh.
These trucks were followed by a third set of “ambulance rescues” in 2000, after which the Raleigh Fire Department began purchasing medium-duty and later heavy-duty rescue trucks for the rescue companies. Read about the rigs on our historian’s web site.
The pics are undated, with no location noted. Nor photographer. They were presumably taken around April 1991, as Rescue 6 was placed in service on April 19 of that year. Also shown in one shot is then Assistant Chief of Services Kenny Lane. Alas, the colors are a but inconsistent across the series. They were scanned from physical prints of two sizes, possibly reprints from two different times (and photo labs).
These pictures can also be viewed on our Flickr site.
