Last week, the City of Raleigh’s newest fire station opened on Fairview Road. The new, rebuilt Station 6 was placed in operation on Monday, March 29, 2021. It houses Engine 6 and the newly relocated Ladder 6. We will be sharing more about this news, along with a historical perspective. Here’s the plaque that’s displayed in the lobby of the new facility, telling about the history of the two earlier engine houses. More to come!
I worked at Sta.6 as a “new boy” in 1966 til 1974,when l was promoted to Driver(Lieut.).The first call l drove to was on the 1950 Mack. Those years were the best and most enjoyable times l had in my 28 1/2 year career.l will never forget the good times, and the great friendships we shared. We were like family. God bless all the past, present, and future members of The Raleigh Fire Department!
